Hate to rain on your parade, but there is no withholding from your paycheck. Singapore does not use a PAYG tax structure. You file your tax return during the first 3.5 months of the following year for the previous year's earnings, send it in and a couple of months later you get a tax bill from Papp...

Hi Godmidas, I have just last week imported our two cats and one dog into singapore from australia. I can truely say that it was very straight forward, I got a pet travel agent to arrange the flight etc, although many breeders of dogs export there pups worldwide, so many would do this on you behalf ...

Callalily, Why would I shoot you? Do you have a vesting interest in the business? I think, if you look, you can find the links to Netmaid on my links page below in my signature along with tons of other good links for new expats. There's a big difference between recommending and advertising o...

Hi Hook... agencies tend to throw at you everything they have. You need to select. There is a good website called netmaid (SMS, don't shoot me!). You can enter your requirements and view the profiles. Interview as many as needed until you find the right one. Recommended helpers don't necessarily wo...

Hooktothenet Have you made any progress with looking for a transfer maid? If so, which agency? I know what you mean with maid agencies. When you ask them for specific requirements, they tend to ignore it and recommend someone that is no where near to what you have asked for. You try to be polite an...

We are freighting over our two cats and one dog to Singapore from Sydney. We are asking an animal transport company here to handle the shipping , paperwork etc. Although we did do the Import permit application ourselves. For those not familiar with this you have to go to the AVA office or website: h...

A friend of our is paying $1800 pm for a Suzuki Vitara. I am not convinced however that renting is the way to go personally, well not imo and my situation anyway. You can buy a 2 year old car, say a Rav4 for $56K, low interest rate of say 2.68% over 48 mth's, 8 year of COE left. I know you have depr...

Who said I am looking for a pretty maid, I didn't! I am asking for no more than the agencies provide and don't see what your problem is with my attitude. As you are coming from Australia, I am not sure of the anti-discrimination laws down there, but were SE comes from (and myself) there are laws ag...

From what I gather any child going the other way (back to Aus.) will be ahead of their class. Good luck! :) Yes, Our neighbour here in Sydney is a local primary school teacher and she said the same that the students are way ahead, even the one's that didn't attend the AIS. Hope to get our son into ...

So... pardon for wasting your 'valuable time'. What 'requirements' are you talking about when it would appear that your post is oriented towards not maids, but those who might be recommending. Sheesh, I know of good candidates, I might not want to send them your way because of the attitude I percei...

Hooked - not sure on that - one of our many other peeps here should be able to answer that one. However, bear in mind, that the FTA channels here are loosley designed along the lines of one channel per main ethnic group, so as you're an English speaker, you'll really only get two channels. That's w...

Hooked - notice you said digital plasma - so that means it will have either one or two digital tuners, as well as the usual FTA (Free to AIr) analgue). I suggest you check with Starhub and Singtel (their sites are easily found by the judicious use of Google or your search engine of choice!) and ask...
