Both Windows Media Player and iTunes(on PC and Mac) come with a categorized array of radio stations. try them.

On my IBM T40 i had to switch input to external keyboard from the control panel. its painful compared to my recently bought iBook where any number of inputs work together. i think its the PS2 vs USB protocol.

i too had a phone, just the connection is a painless process. besides you don't need to sign any contracts. just visit a starhub or singtel shop.
