Re: My PR chances ?

That's basically the answer I was expecting. Thanks anyway. Just wondering where other Frenchies work in SG -- I work for an American company that bought an SG start-up, which they consolidated as their local office, while I think French engineers tend to work for French companies in SG (Thales, ST...

Re: My PR chances ?

Just looking at your profile, I would say your chances are probably quite low. Your field is definitely something that is very appealing but you haven't been in Singapore for that long so that stands against you. The problem you face is that you aren't competing against everyone else. You are specif...

Re: Full Cream Milk or Formula Milk?

For convenience, use UHT as it lasts unopened outside of the fridge for the longest period of time.
However, some people have been known to complain about the taste vs pasteurised.

Re: Don't let your overseas drivers license expire!

You say you "can only hold a drivers license in the state he/she is legally resident". So you renew your drivers licence to an address that is not technically your residence (i.e. renew in Australia but actually live in Singapore)? But what happens if you haven't had a need to drive in Singapore unt...

Re: NAN Optipro or Dumex Dugro?

This only directed at mommies, but I'm not a mommy... I don't think either of these are "better". Each child is different. What I've experienced with myself and my friends is that you just choose one and then hope that your child doesn't get a reaction... Sometimes the child is allergic to cow's mil...

Re: UWC or Tanglin - Some insight please

As you will know from my other posts I have a kid going to Primary school soon. I make a mistake and actually my child will not be applying for P1 next year so I still have a bit of time. However, I am also thinking about international schools. Has there been any further updates on views on UWC and ...

Re: Frustration Over PR Rejection

It's a tough situation. I know a number of people in a similar ASEAN scholarship situation to you. It's worth noting that 17k between two of you is not that high in the grand scheme of things. What differentiated them was those who were successful at getting PR easily were Malaysian Chinese (within ...

Re: PR Chances

I'm 46 and currently it's just me in the Company. Looking to take on 2 locals shortly and pay them 4k a month each. Thanks for your thoughts. It seems from the other comment here from a far more experienced poster that your chances are pretty limited. However, the cost for applying is something lik...

Re: PR Chances

From reading the forum, it seems that being a single father by itself is insufficient information to really make a determination. Based on your ethnic group alone, this forum indicates it would be tough for you. I think the problem is that you are not competing against all other expats, you are comp...

Re: DSA in 2024

Speaking of DSA. If I have foreigner kids who are in the primary school system, would I be correct is assuming they are treated the same as citizens/PRs when it comes to admission into secondary system? In other words, they can apply to schools through DSA?

Re: Full Cream Milk or Formula Milk?

My understanding is that formula milk is ok until the baby is starting to regularly eat solid food (i.e. not just milk). Once they start eating a nutritionally balanced diet regularly they no longer need formula. Usually this start around 1 year old. After this point you can switch to normal full cr...

Disney Cruise coming on 15 December 2025

Looks like Disney Cruise is launching on 15 December 2025, with pricing coming out on 14 November. This will essentially be a brand new ship. Will anyone here be signing up? I might sign up just to try it out, but I've read it is quite expensive. I'm not sure what links I can put here without breach...

Re: Missed So Many Oppurtunities

So many missed opportunities ... and also so many copy and paste posts!! Not been here long, so I might misjudge the forum, so mods please delete if inappropriate. I think there are a number of things to unpack here. First is that it's clearly frustrating that you want a job that's on offer and you ...

Re: Any Foreign kid got to Local School (2022)

Anecdotal evidence. For example, my son and his cousin (both DP holders with PR parents, staying in Singapore long-term) were successful in getting places in local schools during the P1 exercise (my son never enrolled, but his cousin did). This was around the same time that large numbers of DP hold...

Re: Overbooked flights

Pre covid, I flew Singapore Airlines, British Airways and Cathay quite regularly. The way I think about "overbookedness" is if there are free upgrades. I have flown SQ the most and have never seen an upgrade. BA and Cathay I was regularly upgraded for free (Economy to Premium Economy, or Premium to ...
