My application went in 1st week of June 09 and I got my response in the 2nd week of August 09...so approx. 10 weeks.

Sorry, one more point. Since my spouse and I applied for the LPR together, if either one of us secures full time employment, then the conditions of LPR are satisfied. Definitely something to think about. FYI, they have an option to extend the search period by another year. I have to apply for it, 2 months before the expiry of the original 1 year period.
