Hi We moved to Singapore from Oz approx 9 months ago and faced exactly the same dilemna. We ended up finding a place right next to the school - it takes our 2 kids a minute to get to school (bit older than yours). Also handy for weekend sports activities run at the school. My hubby travels to work b...

Goods and Services Index / COLA

Hi I am hoping recent expats from Australia could help me benchmark the Australia to Singapore Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). Is a 1.06 Goods & Services Index (i.e Goods and Services are generally 6% more expensive than Australia) sufficient? Feels low to me - is any one able to reference any ext...

Rental Peak / Troughs

Hi there. We have not been having much success finding a suitable place to rent and have been advised that availability of properties should improve shortly as the current peak period for influx of expats subsides (till around June when the American/British school year will begin). In turn, the land...

I'm guessing the LL doesn't realise that the loophole has been closed. I would personally get the TA changed so only reflects a single rental amount Exactly, and I have no doubt many are misled by their equally clueless agents into thinking they are doing something very clever indeed. Any change is...

Thank you for your feedback. I know of a few expats who have negotiated similar deals in countries other than Singapore - was worth a try! :D

Re: Recommended Housing near AIS

Hi We are moving to Singapore from Australia shortly. We are thinking of enrolling our two boys at AIS. At this stage, we have no concept of where AIS is in relation to the CBD, MRT etc. We are looking at accomodation for upto SGD10,000 per month. Are there any family friendly places close to the A...
