West facing apartment- take or leave ?

We found a fantastic apartment in Costa Rhu (east caost) in the Olivia building BUT it is west facing and everyone seems to be advicing us against it. Anyone ever lived in a west facing apartment ? How bad does it get ? All the rooms are facing west !

Does anyone have any experiences of these places or any advice ? I was keen on the Marina bay ( 6 marina blvd) because it is 5 min to Raffles MRT) and so I may be well connected. it is also 5 min to the merlion park and that might be good with a 4 year old in tow. Need suggestion on service apartment (have a 4 year old)

We are looking for a service apartment for our move from US to Singapore. This will be for 2 months till we can find our own apartment. We need something clean, safe, accessible and also fun for a 4 year old (play ground etc). Thanks !

Gecko/house lizards !

Are they very common ? Even in high rises ? Are they harmful ? Is there a way to control them (trap etc). I have a 4 year old and worry he will run after them or they will be in his stuff. I am super icky about these creatures !!!! 8-[

What is this bit about the cat burglers. Are they common in Singapore ? Also I believe that most houses have air-conditioning in the window type unit (not central a/c) so does one need to keep the window open a lot ? Do folks use ceiling fans ? I am real concerned about this too ! I am thinking of getting those sticky alrams that can be mounted on windows such that if someone opens a window beyond the adjusted height the circuit is broke and the alarm goes off (hopefully this won't become a game !).
