Got your point. Its a tad bit sad though coz unlike other Indians I am not coming for a job, rather bringing my own money which is much higher than what people in Singapore earn per capita. Are you bringing like $10 million worth of Singapore dollars here? You can get a PR if you are bringing 10mil...

Re: Residential Property Investment

Hi there, I have been to Singapore a few times and even worked for a while there. The residential property seems to be very stable (of course, it has its ups and downs), but I think the way the market is structured, there is always an uptrend in prices. I am trying to make an investment in a reside...

F&B is a great business in Singapore. Especially snacks. Sure there are success like Botak Jones and failures like bubble tea. But once you hit the wave, you can start planning for retirement. Look at Roti Boy. Even though it closed down, I think the owner definitely made a big pile. :P Roti boy is...

Every business is almost as easy to begin with and to fail. Air con servicing is just as easy to start however if Natural cool is to think this way, there won't be any more natural cool. Natural cool make it big during recession when the sentiments are real bad. I have to admit such cases are rare. ...

>Seafood in Batam is tiny and the cooking style doesn't appeal to me. That's a pretty sweeping statement, seeing that there's over a hundred SF places in Batam and the local Chinese are of identical ethnic background to those of Singapore e.g. Teo Chew, Cantonese, Hokkien etc. My favourite night ti...

Re: Corporate filing matters

She's charging you 1k more for what, precisely? That's more than I paid for all my accounting last year combined, and filing the end of year stuff via ACRA took all of 15 minutes. haha, You can't compare the rate universally....complexity due to business structure and nature factors the cost.... Ha...

the new changes at ACRA, namely XBRL filing, affects only companies which need to be audited. is your company audit exempt? however ACRA filling of Annual Return is only once a year, asking for $1K pay rise is a tad too much Hi Uncle 9, do you remember me? Time to change a company secretary. Nothin...

Company tax is 17% while property tax is 10% of the rental. It makes sense. It's not a loophole. Once you hit 5 million and you need to be audited, the next thing you know is you are full of fixed assets. That's when the pain comes. Your fees will be very high. Believe in our government. Whatever yo...

Re: Office Fit Out

Hello, I am trying to source contractors for an office I am opening in Singapore. I pulled a few random names from yellow pages but the quotes are ridiculous and clearly they are more interested in high end "design concepts" rather than just putting up a bit of partitioning and running a bit of cab...

Ryan, you should have read the business section. When any members ask a question deemed silly, he/she gets ridicule badly. I mean it when I say badly. I didn't even want to participate in the Business section any more but even in these more relaxation section and I see this.

I will NEVER step my foot in Batam. I would rather stay in Singapore and eat expensive but quality seafood. Seafood in Batam is tiny and the cooking style doesn't appeal to me.
