Book Lovers Get Together - 28th September

Hi there! Just kicking off a get together for Book lovers... we can catch up over coffee and talk about all things literary (and more!). Tentatively scheduling this for 28th Sept afternoon. Suggestions for venue welcome and we can decide based on response to the thread.

Sounds like an absolutely wonderful idea. I'd recommend the The Book Cafe: http://www.thebookcafe.com.sg/

Maybe even do a book swap? Although I'm sure no one will take my books, given how I'm into history, politics and other heavy-reading stuff.

On a serious note, book swap sounds good for subsequent meet ups. Also, I was thinking of making this a regular book club thing where we pick a book for the upcoming meet up and discuss it.

I'm up for something like this, although I wouldn't want any of Slinger's books...too heavy. Both figurative and literal. The last one I saw was big enough to be a murder weapon or a pillow. My Harry Potter books are like that too though...

I'm just about to start Frank Dikotter's "The Tragedy of Liberation: A History of the Chinese Revolution, 1945-1957". Happy to have that as the first book of the book club...

... Or not.

Finally found a decent Book Club on meetup.com! Its called The Contemporary Reads Book Club, in case anyone's interested. We meet once a month and next up (for Nov) is "The Wind Up Bird Chronicle" by Murakami.
