Processing Time for PR Application Appeals

Post by raptor_from_vietnam » Thu, 11 Jun 2026 8:52 am

Hi all,

I would like to ask if you have any experience or know anyone's experience with regards to the PR application appeal. Our family (me, wife and kid) applied for PR last year, we got a rejection this Feb and I wrote an email to ICA to appeal. There was no response, so I thought they never really checked the email. But to my surprise, when I logged onto the ICA portal, it shows that I have an ongoing appeal submitted on the date I wrote the email. It has been 4 months, so I dont know how long it would take. Last time when we tried appealing in our last failed application, the appeal got rejected within a month.

As SMS likes to say - how long is a piece of string :)

I had my one and only appeal for PR rejection rejected in about a month (back in 2018 if I recall correctly). This was an appeal submitted through the MP. But that's just one data point.

For an appeal to be successful, you need to provide a substantive rationale.

When our 5yo daughter’s PR was rejected (FTS via PR mother) we first appealed in person — they scrutinized the mother’s PR first, and then asked us to write in. In our appeal letter we explained our decades long roots in Singapore and how our daughter would contribute in the long-term to Singapore. If my memory serves me correctly, it took around 2 months before we got her approval. We were honestly not confident she would get it.

Despite our move to the U.S. for our kids education, I’ve recently asked my daughter (now 20yo) whether she ever plans to return to Singapore and she said absolutely… after she completes her degree and gets experience under her belt, she will return to Singapore with many distinct advantages, both for her and for Singapore. Hopefully Singapore won’t cancel her REP before she has the opportunity to do that.
