I've been looking around and can't seem to find a definitive answer to this:
My wife is Singaporean, I am not. We do not live in Singapore (although we may at some time in the future). We are expecting our first child. My wife wants to give birth in Singapore. If the child is a boy, will giving birth in Singapore result in a requirement for our son to do national service that would not happen if he were born outside of Singapore?
If he's born in Singapore, will we then have to pay a bond to take him out of Singapore back to our home?
Is it true that at some point before turning 18 he can choose to take up my citizenship and renounce his Singaporean citizenship, and thus avoid NS?
