World Cup Predictions Comp

Post by Saint » Tue, 23 May 2006 5:47 pm

With 17 days 6 hours and 15 mins to go until the start of the World Cup, would anyone be interested in little predictions competition amongst us? Something on the lines of naming the 2 teams that will go through from each group, the top 3 goal scorers, number of red cards etc etc

Post if you are up for it here and if there's enough interest, I'll knock something up over the next few days

You're into Dutch guys now? I wasn't so far off then, was I?! Ah yes, it's always the ones with the successful marriage, lovely wife, nice social life and good standing.
Closet cloggie-lovers!

(Shame that Eric won't be in on this, but we know he's going for the Orange people and Brazil)

there's our mexican friend as well, a newbie - I will ask him to join as well.
So, what's this thing going to look like?

I would suggest that Brazil cannot be chosen as the winner simply due to the fact that . . . oh well . . .

Was thinking of spliting it down into a few sections

1) Predict the two teams to qualify from each group. The points you get for each correct team will be based on their current FIFA world standings, so between 1 and 32 points (I'll work out the standings list soon)

So if you predict Brazil to go through you will probably only get 1 point, whereas predict Angola and they go through you could get 20 plus points

After all the first round games have been completed all points added up and carried forward

2) You will then predict the winners of each of the 2nd round matches and points awarded as before

And so on and so on until the end. This way it's also a bit of a gamble and keeps everyone interested until the end.

What you think?
