@Auslander83 - may I know how this turned out? Do you still need a bond to extend for the exit permit for less than 2 years when your son reached 15? My son will turn 15 next year so we need to plan if we need to return to Singapore to process the bond if needed. We are in Canada.

Hello depending when was ur last exit from Singapore otherwise bond is not needed.

@Auslander83 What do you mean by depending when the last exit was? Our last visit to Singapore was in August 2023 and that was for a short vacation only. That time he was only 12 years old. We moved to Canada when he was 3. He will turn 15 years old in May 2026.

I applied successfully for my son's permit when he turned 13 years.
Granted until he turns 14 year 360 days.
So I will need to apply for renewal just before he turns 15yrs.

Based on the most recent responses on this chain, does it mean
(1) Renew without bond as long as duration is less than 2 years
(2) OR renew without bond as long as duration <2 years AND last SG visit is recent (<1year)
(3) OR renew WITH BOND

@ajaysgg - I have also applied successfully for my son's permit when he turned 13 years and I applied for 1 year 11 months overseas stay. So now I need to renew his exit permit before he turns 15 years.

Adding to your question above, does anyone know if my son needs to return to SG before his current exit permit expires to that we can renew his exit permit without BOND?

Currently I tried to renew the permit, and the page automatically direct me to apply exit permit with BOND. I am reaching out to the NS contact centre and I am waiting for their clarification.

Does anyone here ever experience this kind of situation?

Hello, so I am managed to renew my children exit permit without Bond til they are 16.9years old.

CMPB will assess our last departure from Singapore (we travel to Singapore every year) and also we need to submit documents from the school stating their current educational level.

WTH..I tried to renew son's EP (he is almost 15 yo) for another year and the portal says the bond is needed.

Playing around with the dates, I did managed to extend EP by 3 months.

What happens if someone simply cannot come up with bond whether relatives cannot help or not enough money for the bond?
