I can buy a citizen automatic that will keep time forever without battery. If I want to spend 10K on a watch I'd much rather buy a watch with the personal craftsmanship and cache that that kind of money will buy. Not something that will need to be charged 4 x every 3 days and will need continual software updates or won't work at all after an apocalypse when all the servers go down and the power goes off. Mechanical or automatic is the way to go. Nah, doesn't work for me.

I think you've missed the point slightly, the Apple watch will be as much about just telling the time as an iPhone is about just making a phone call.
And why doesn't Simgapore have an Apple Store? Surely there's enough of a market for at least one?

With the redonkulous sales Apple makes, even if everyone in Singapore bought an iPhone, that will only be a drop in the bucket compared to China.

The online store suffices for tiny, tiny Singapore.

You. Now. But if you regularly earned 100x more to what you earn today, you would be a different you. Besides, it does not need to make any sense at all. All is needed is to be happy about the purchase. The “I like it” factor is what makes sense in it.

It just makes very little sense to look for a sense in anything that is designed to cost money.

A few reasons. One, because Apple's resellers here (Epicenter, etc) already had prime locations and market penetration. Any Apple store would just cannibalize an already good relationship with them.

Second, the location they wanted they could not obtain. They tried a few years ago. More details at next Eagle's gathering.

The $10k-17k (yes it goes that high) gold watch is allegedly a deal compared to other similar watches with similar materials. They're targetting the market that owns $50k+ "dumb" gold watches, and multiple other expensive $10k+ watches. It's all about being BLING BLING and showing off your wealth.

And really, who is more of a baller? The guy with the $50k patek, or the guy with the new $17k disposable Apple watch every year?
