Ok its a little tricky.. Hmmm you can take bus 16 or 33.. it is just 1 bus stop before/after tanjong katong secondary school (depends in which direction you are coming from)... It is within sight of the bus stop..

For those of you who know where president SR nathan lives, it is just opposite his home...

Is this enough Kats_??
I'm so stupid that I surprise myself sometimes...

All,

Not sure if there was a poll on numbers taken. Thursday 8PM is ok for me.

Kats! I cant post anything of the yahoo group folders. Is there any restrictions that you have to deactivate for users to post?

Hi guru,

You need to register yourself with the group. Once you are done with registration I will need to activate after which you can post messages.

So far I have activated all who wanted to join. Pelase try again. You also need to sign in after being activated before you post a message.

What is your yahoo ID?

I just did a test and it seems to work fine. Let me know if you are having any trouble.

Regards,
karthik.

HI KT,

I already have about over 10 guys sign up for the yahoo groups. I wouldnt want to confuse them now. Atleast not now.

Perhaps at a later stage?

In the meantime, I shall promise to keep u informed of the happenings by adding you to the emails.

Could you email me your email address if that is OK? Else I will have to post a message here each time.

As for the rest of you, please kindly check your emails at about 4 PM for final confirmation of the meeting this evening. Hope it isnt too late. (KT, will post a note for you here if I dont hear from you by then)

Thanks
Kats

Hello all,

Here goes.....

Time: 7:30 PM (This evening - 11 August)

Venue: Mac Donald's at Isetan (Enter form behind the building and
there is one by the lifts)

Sorry, we might end up in a slightly noisy environment - but we could
always think of a better place for the next time Also, the last time
I was tehre at this hour, it was fairly empty.

Any objections or suggestions? If not, we shall stick to this place.

Please let me knwo if you can make it by emailing. DO leave a message if it is engaged.

Cheers,
kats

Sounds ok to me. We can always adjourn to a lesser noisy place, if it indeed gets out of control. But I guess as a start its fine.

For the next session, you may want to think of the Book Cafe @ Md Sultan. Perfect spot for this type of activity.

Meeting 1 - Update

Post by Kats_ » Fri, 12 Aug 2005 12:43 pm

Hello all,

Yesterday's meeting went well. ALthough only a few of us could make it, a direction was set as to what could be done.

Thanks to Guru for his brilliant ideas; I shall type down what was discussed soon and lay down the fundamentals so that everyone can have a basic idea of what is and can be expected from them/club.

Stay tuned!

Cheers,
Kats

Hello everybody!

Alright here goes..

READERS' CLUB RULES

1) All participants must get a National Library membership.

2) The meetings will take place on 3rd Thursday of each month and will last for a maximum period of 90 minutes. (Subject to change based on participants’ request)

3) Venue for the next meeting will be decided at the end of the current meeting.

4) At each meeting the book chosen previously will be discussed after which the next book to be read will be chosen.

5) Each participant will be allowed to make suggestion(s) as to which book to read next.
- Each suggestion must be accompanied by a synopsis of the book and the author.
- The person suggesting a book must ensure the availability of the books in NLB or book stores prior to the meeting.
- The person suggesting a book must have already read the book.
- The price of the chosen book must be within SGD 30.
- The books chosen may not exceed *** pages.
- The nature of discussion should also be set.
- The club doesn’t aim to review new books in market so the books chosen should be atleast a few months old.
- We will have a poll to vote and choose from the suggestions.

Alright then, you have read it! Any feedback/suggestion is more than welcome. Next meeting's details:

Date: September 15th 2005 + Direction/Address will be provided)
Venue: Book Cafe (tentative)

In our first meeting it was decided that we read Dan Brown's 'Da Vinci Code' for a start; given its popularity, I guess it will encourage people and will be relatively easy for everyone to get a hang of what/how the discussion will be like.

Also for the next meeting, have atleast one book to suggest that can be read next.

If you are reading about this for the first time and are interested you can join the Yahoo groups at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Readers_Club/

Questions? Mail me at [email protected] or PM here.

Regards,
kats.
