Want to apply for PR

Hello Friends,

I am here in Sinagpore since 1 and half years.
wanted to apply for PR but my current employer is aksing me a 1 and 1/2 years bond which
I dont want to sign.Some of my Pals say that even without Employer Sponsorship guys many have obtained PR recently.But many say that chances of getting PR is less and I am confused.

My current employer wouldn't even fill the Annexe A section without me sigining the bond.

Any body can guide me..

As my previous post in the thread ahead says that employers are bound to contribute to CPF mandatorily which is much more than average salary hike the employee would get had he stayed in the same company. This is clearly advantage employer since employee can't switch job if he is not PR unless another employer wishes to sponser him and that MOM approves it, certainly a difficult task no employer would be willing to bank upon. probably a thorough reading at bond and it's obligations would make sense if you have no plan to switch job in near future.

Employer sponsorship is not a pre-requisite for PR. As long as you have qualifications demonstrating your employability and, equally important, family ties in Singapore you will have a shot at it.

Heard from my flatmates that it's better if the company sponsors one to get the PR...is it true?
Wonder if they would... No incentive on their part, no?

incentive aside, the firm will need to pay a tad little more (3%) for CPF?

I am also from india staying in singapore from 4 years.

I got PR after 3 years. First year got rejected.

100 % can get PR if u stay here more than 3 years....

and sponsored by employer is must...

The Annex A to Form 4A clearly says:

"...Employer’s sponsorship of the application is not a requirement. Completing this form does not imply employer’s sponsorship of the application. "

Seems like people are mixing "employer’s sponsorship" with "Signed by Employer".
So there is a difference betwen SIGNING Annex A by Employer AND SPONSORED BY EMPLOYER.

I got my PR approval letter but how long will it take to get my actual PR after this. Looks like i need to produce medical cert. to the ICA along withother docs. Can anyone how long wil it take to get my actual PR status?

You will get your PR status the day you go to ICA with the required documents specified in your approval letter. You will collect the entry permit, which is a certificate of your PR status and also the re-entry permit in your passport for re-entering Singapore as a PR (usually good for 5 years). However, you will have to wait for a week before you can come back to ICA and pick up your NRIC card (ID card).

PS. you do not need employer sponsorship to apply for PR. If your employer refuses to fill out Annex A, you can still apply. All you need to do it to provide a written explanation as to why your employer refuses to do so. One common reason used is "my employers are afriad that once I get PR, I will quit and find a different employer".
