I have acquired a taste for local coffee that and the broad oily noodles with chili is my breakfast

my stomach doesn't always agree with my choices though.
Everybody already knows what it is, so there's not much point in saying it - Simpsons

Other than the the names mentioned here - how available are different kinds of coffee beans generally? I am assuming that being close to Indonesia, Sumatra or Java beans would be readily available. I like to brew my own and some Java from Java would be fine and dandy.

Try the coffee machine in Saizeriya (Liang Court 2nd or 3rd floor; or City Square Mall B2).
Note there are two coffee machines there, one is all Nescafe stuff, the other is the good stuff. Not sure what brand coffee they use, but I really like it.
It is less than $3 and free flow. But of course, you should have to eat there too.

Greetings all... long time viewer, first time poster. Be kind
I've been here about eight weeks and really struggled when I arrived... Starbucks are quite expensive and the quality of the coffee is hit & miss.
Have been feeling a lot better about the situation since I went out and got a Nespresso at Takashimaya (or however you spell it), cost a bit to get going but I can now have a coffee before leaving every morning that costs around $1 for the capsule & tastes better than most cafe brought coffee.
My 2c worth anyway...

Totally agree
I still haven't found a cafe in Singapore that can make better coffee than Nespresso

We have a Pavoni (connoisseurs know what this means, others look it up at the Museum of Modern Art in New York) and buy freshly roasted beans from the uncle at Bukit Timah Wet Market ground floor. He has "Java" beans that actually come from there and are better than the (slightly more expensive) East Timor variety - they beat any "Illy" or other brand that became stale on a slow ship from Europe. He's open only mornings (until 12:00) on weekdays, all day on weekend.

Is it better than luwak from a civet cat with a slow digestive tract?

Used to be that the civet cats could choose the best beans, which is why that coffee is expensive. Now, they are force fed so all you get out of that process is *ahem*

How about buying a coffee machine and do it yourself at home?
I have one Polce Gusto at home, I can make espresso, latte, capuchino, etc. In my former office, there is one two. I like both.

Where are they located? Do you need to buy a lot for them to sell?
