Mediterranean restaurant

Hi Nafo,
I am local, I am eating food on this island for the past 28 years! So here is my point of view:

F&B is certainly a good business in singapore although competitive. What is not competitive these days?

Location wise if you are targeting expats, you can try clarke quay or boat quay or anywhere along Singapore River should be fine, but definitely not Keong Saik !!! Who ever suggested Keong Saik must be crazy, it is a very different crowd. Clarke quay / boat quay is difficult to get a space for rental. Most locals are also open to Mediterranean food, so not to worry. I myself like Turkish food, go to Far East Plaza 1st level, look for Anatolia Restaurant, I think it is nice too.

Well, you certainly have problems reading and definitely are not in the food business, despite your experience of eating for the last 28 years...

The person mentioning Keong Saik Road wasn't so much suggesting to open a business over there, but merely pointing out that there is a mediterranean restaurant on Keong Saik Road, so the OP should check it out to see how the competition is doing.

Clarke Quay is indeed an expat area, but do you have any idea how high the monthly rental is for a restaurant there? Probably more than you'd earn in your entire life.

hey, whoever suggested Keong Saik is really a league of its own!!

anyway, mentioned boat quay, i chanced upon a nice looking cafe(not open for biz til 1st Oct according to the 2 lady bosses) just yesterday while visiting Sir Stamford Raffles (his statue-the white one) at the back of Asian Civilisation Museum with my Aussie classmate.

they have steps leading up to its entrane and a piano placed near it... it was the piano that lured out the curiosity in me (i am a fanatic of classic music).. and make me wanna check it out..

no regret, the deco was simple and yet exclusive.. from the menu, their pricing is reasonable...

the 2 ladies were very friendly, let me play on the 15yrs old piano and also told me that they will be coffee, tea, smoothies, ice-blended stuff, beer, wines, muffins, soup, salad, sandwiches and cheesecakes in this 1st cafe of theirs.

they invited me to go back on the 1st to try their cheesecakes claiming it to be their signature!! and also that their homemade soup would make anyone's $-worth (they show me a really huge soup bowl!!)

to everyone out there, go check out this new cafe at Asian Civilisation Museum (dun go to their next door neighbour - IndoChines, their coke is real real ex!!)

think the ladies mentioned that the public could book their place for private events, etc.... hmmm...maybe i could celebrate my 21st birthday there...

aiya, i forgot to ask what's the name of the cafe (they didn't/haven't put up their signage)..

i will definitely go back on the 1st of Oct to check it out again and experience the home welcoming kinda service from these 2 ladies again!! hmmm... my classmate even commented that their services and friendliness is ever better than our SIA!!

it will be great to have Mediterranean cuisine by the sea.

An airconditioned wooden restaurant by the sea will be deeply apperciated by majority

and i would be definetly a regular customer
