Anyone know how long should we wait after the medical check up? Will SIA let us know if we fail the medical check up?

You should receive the golden call/email in approximately 2 weeks from your checkup. It can be even quicker than that (or longer, 1 month+) depending on your availability as well. If you fail medical you will just receive a rejection letter, they won't tell you why you failed the medical
