Singapore PR Application - CPF access

No point trying to convince folks here. Like someone else pointed out. We are not the approvers. You came here hoping to get an opinion - and as has already been pointed out, the opinions here tend to be fairly good guesses as well as unvarnished. So the unvarnished opinion is:

Whatever the actual reason why your parents chose your mother's nationality for you (and not your father's) doesn't matter to the ICA. They will most likely view it as an attempt to avoid NS. And they are most likely going to repay you by not approving your PR application.

Now you can always try (optimistically) or alternatively - you are still very young and should probably start thinking about alternative countries you could settle down in.

As the PR father of a son who did 22 months in SCDF picking up pandemic victims in full PPE I see no reason for you to get PR.

You need to focus on finding a newer better country to migrate to.

Singapore is not for you and this is one line the garment will not cross. The voting public will NEVER accept PR or new citizens or normal people avoiding NS for their kids in this manner or any other scheme. You're being punished unfairly it may seem but remember Singapore governs for the common good, not the individual.

You're literally one step up from stateless.

I'm honestly surprised you have an eP or WP (or maybe you don't... I see you're on an LTVP with an LOC... that's not a permanent or stable situation my friend).

Just don’t be surprised if you get PR rejection. You’ll probably be on LTVP for life if you wanna stay here in SG. LTVP+ if you’re lucky.

I really appreciate your help! But it’s not that we avoided NS or avoided applying for PR… we did applied but it was rejected. Here is the breakdown

Age 13 - applied 1 time

Age 14 - applied 1 time

Age 16 - applied 1 time

Age 17 - applied 1 time

Age 19 applied 1 time.

In all the application , I stated , I want to serve the nation. I want to be part of Singapore but it was all rejected. So it’s not my parents fault. I didn’t step into Singapore till i am 11 years old cause my dad couldn’t afford my school fees. A foreigners school fees was 800$ per month. So I came to Singapore to complete my PSLE and others like help of my grandma and other kind souls.

I even wrote letters to PMO and also went to see the MP to help me and clearly stated that I want to serve NS and so. I do have all the documents with me to prove that.

Nice! Finally I got my IPA today for my PR!

This is for all the people who wants to apply for PR! Please do not get discouraged by the replies of the people here. Like how I was being treated here by people saying I need to find another country and I am lucky enough to stay here and I will never get my PR! These people are not from IcA and they don’t even know some of the facts. Please do not get discouraged and apply on your own merit and every application is different and weighs different. Unexpected outcomes can and do happen.

The acceptance rate for PR ebbs and flows over time. We saw much more generous granting of PR back in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, but then things got tighter… and tighter. I suspect we might be witnessing a reversal of that tightness starting last year and continuing this year - but that is just my hunch. Nobody can know for sure, so all you can do is buy yourself a ticket and hope for the best.
