We also use taxis. We've been here for 5+ years and have lived centrally so it just wasn't neccessary until now (I have three children). I've been using the TravelRider vest from one of the mothers works shops here. Its easy to put on and my 2 and 4 yo use it without a problem (my four yo can put hi...

Has anyone tried the bigger cars such as Toyoto Vellfire or Alphard? What are they like in terms of petrol consumption, maneuverability etc. I would expect to pay more for petrol but not a ridiculous amount. Also will I struggle to get into most carparks at the shopping malls? We're a family of five...

From Wikipedia: Commercial Glucose is produced commercially via the enzymatic hydrolysis of starch. Many crops can be used as the source of starch. Maize, rice, wheat, potato, cassava, arrowroot, and sago are all used in various parts of the world. In the United States, cornstarch (from maize) is us...

Hmmm. The previous poster sounds like she works for the company. Just wanted to add that there is a pre-school at Dempsey road that offers on-site baby-sitting an Saturdays (maybe Sundays?). I'm not sure if they are any good as I haven't used them but some friends send their children there for class...

Someone recently mentioned the international medical centre to me (there is one at Tanglin shopping centre, pretty sure that there is another one elsewhere too) as being good. Regular GP's, not Paeds. I suspect that the costs would be about the same though as the GPs generally are either expats, or ...

Hi, mine sees Dr Vas as well - not sure if I mentioned that to you before, if I did, apologies! She goes to Paragon on Mon/Wed/Fri afternoons. I have friends who go to her, others see Dr Belinda (with no complaints except she can be very straight-talking, but a very good doctor) and Dr Ang from TMC....

Hi newhere There is a lot of info in previous posts so do have a look through them when you get a chance. When I first arrived here I started a lot of pre-natal excercise classes (yoga, water-cise etc) through the mother and child centres located in Tanglin Mall and Tanglin Shopping centre. This was...

It depends on the hospital. I gave birth at Thompson Medical and was allowed to have my husband and my doula with me. As far as I am aware Mount E and Gleneagles allow the same. A lot depends on your doctor as well. To be honest if my OB didn't allow doulas then I wouldn't see him/her. It would indi...

Great World and the First Few Years at Paragon (5th floor, Orchard Road) are good - Mothers Work is the one I always go back to. There is a smaller Mothers Work at Tanglin Mall (Tanglin Road, just before Orchard Road) but the one at Great World is best for range. Mother Care is not too bad - there i...

When does your class start? The ladies I use now charge me their 'private' rate which has worked out to be cheaper then the original company rate - mind you I have used them a lot over the last couple of years! If you started using one now you could ask her if she would offer you the private rate fo...

The other main one, apart from aquaducks, is Marsden. You can either go to their place in HV or an instructor will come to your condo/house. I've got no complaints with our instructor or his methods. You should find it if you google. It might be on the link to nmsg - a great link to have by the way!
