Rental market has gone up steeply in the last yr or so. I think the minimum for a studio/1 bedroom condo is along the lines of 2K/month and above. As per previous posts, it is possible to find a room, look at MRT map and start narrowing down the areas which you want to consider closer to DG.

I think for temporary housing, you don't have much options other than serviced apartments or hotels. I wouldnt recommend hotels for a period of 3 months, for 1 bedroom serviced apartments, there are plenty of options but you will be looking at $6K - $7K/month SGD. I dont see much or any expat deals anymore unless you are coming in on a Senior role and the company wants you here, but having said that, there is a still huge inflation I see on the salary wise between local wages and if you do carry good work experience abroad. Hope that helps...

Apart from the demand and hype of the rental market, I think with S$2.5K, it is still possible to find a decent condo, maybe not in around 15-20mins from BQ, but for sure in east or west in around 30 mins MRT ride, if it is east, check out areas starting from Eunos and I am sure you will find within...
