Been to NZ about 50 times . . . but I don't own it, so can't share - sorry.

On the other hand, there is a thing caled the 'Internet' now - amazing tool . . . nah, it will never catch on.

NZ is a great place for a holiday.
Try Rotorua, and Queens Town... Queens town is absolutely the best...
However, the cost of air fare is so expensive within NZ....
Auckland is small but interesting.. Parnell has lots of restaurants and good pubs..
Rotorua has lots exotic things you can do... Hot Springs, Trout Fishing and etc...
Queens town... Ski, Fishing, Golf, Sky Diving and so much things to do....
People are so nice, Scenary is absolutely fantastic... Try the chocolate, Milk and Ice Cream.... the best indeed.

While you are there.... you can even take the antartica trip from Christ Church....

But I personally really enjoyed this place called Milford Sound and I would recommend it strongly. It's on South Island if I remember correctly, and its beauty is simply awesome.

Bay of Island is also good! I agree, Milford sound is FAB! Too many awsome places to cover! I'm a kiwi, having my holiday back here is just heaven! pity flying back to Singapore in an hour's time

'The' place? You're kidding right? It was filmed in about 50 different locations. Call a travel agent, there are specific tours that visit all the locations, but it takes weeks and it is very expensive.

Are you talking about "middle earth"? Head for the South Island then. You are aware that half of the stuff was computer-generated (there are no elf buildings built into the mountains )

Seriously, why anyone takes tours round NZ is beyond me. Hire a car, and drive yourself round. Domestic travel is pain because there is no train system and the buses are really slow, expensive and unreliable.

If you're into hiking and hanging out in the "wilderness", then one of the better places is Abel Tasman National park. Impressive, and I lived in New Zealand most of my life.

Seriously, why anyone takes tours round NZ is beyond me. Hire a car, and drive yourself round.

Because

(1) they can't drive

or

(2) they haven't been driving ever since they passed their driving test (don't own a car!!!) and don't fancy getting into an accident while on holidays . . .

Would you for instance recommend that someone whose only cycling experience is the odd weekend at East Coast Parkway, go off-road mountain biking in Nepal when they have trouble negotiating even good old Pualu Ubin !

New Zealand's beautiful.. it's peaceful over there... but the thing is either u hate or love it, there's not really an inbetween, at least for me. I loved it when i lived there for many years. It depends whether u like the more laid back lifestyle, it's definately great for outdoor recreation,healthy lifestyle and gorgeous surroundings. Auckland it's a nice city.. Rotorua is good for short holiday fun, go for a relaxing dip in the springs, have a go @ the Zorb, where u're in this huge ball and it rolls down the hill, weird feeling.Wellington, erm not so great... smaller city than Auckland despite bein the capital of NZ. South Island is lovely for vacations, even for the kiwis.. lots of sights and new experiences. South Island's mucho better for tourists than North. Why not do some bungee Jumping and rafting
