thx Shirllin..are u learning Capoeira as well btw? do u know what the course fees are? and the duration per session? hope i didnt trouble u.

Dear Joshua,

I have learnt capoeira for a period of time from this mestre.....the group is very welcoming to new comers.....the normal course fees somewhere abt 130 I think a month for training twice a week(not sure cause I am paying the student fees).....the duration of the session is abt 2hrs.....that's the fastest.....glad u are interested in capoeira.....

Thank you all for your replies.
I do not think that the yellow pages would advertise the kind of school I am looking for. I found the school I am in right now totally by chance, it was not advertised or anything. I guess I was ready and the mentor showed up...
And I am not looking for just women's self defense. I am already a martial arts practicioner and it is an integral part of my life. That is why I am looking into this now, because I do not want to be without martial arts for long. I am looking into something like Kung fu or Pakua Chang, although I know that the latter will be extremely hard to find.
It does sound like there are a lot of martial arts styles and schools in Singapore. I did not realise that. I am sure that with a bit of research I will find something that suits my needs.

Because capoeira is common discipline in many brazilian schools, I did for quite a long time during my high school times.

You can find a good group here in Singapore, in some mrt station that I do not recall right now, but they were teaching at california fitness 2 weeks ago. maybe go to cal fitness at Bugis and they can tell you where the group get togheter for classes.

Singapore Korean School has Kendo classes on Sunday (I think).
Very traditional, not commercialised.
