Drinking Australian Wines

I have heard that Australian Wine in Singapore is very expensive. What is the best way to bring in Australian Wine when moving to Singapore. Thanks for your help

Yep, Aussie wine is expensive.........about 20 Sing dollars a bottle at least, for the normal stuff.....but so is all wine. All about the same, though you can get some for 12 or 14 but usually rubbish stuff.

What do you mean, 'bring it in?'.........you can't........only two bottles allowed each as you come in at the airport...........don't try to put it in your shipment of household effects as you enter.......customs are very thorough and they will take it and you will be in trouble.

Do you mean you wish to set yourself up as a wine importer? If so, not sure of the how's and wherefore's of this, but it's a business, and goes along with Singapore law, taxed etc.

So, you just have to buy it. Also, you can get from Malaysia...but not too cheap there, and again, customs are strict and very, very thorough as you come over the causeway back from JB.

Is this true, what I've said everyone? Think it's just about what is true. If there's any other LEGAL way to do it, let us know.

Yes, you can declare and pay duty, but then the cost will generally be the same (or more expensive) than buying locally.

I have brought in more than 2 bottles before from Oz and I think it was well worth it despite the duty which I had to pay. It's strange, everytime I come back from Australia, they always scan my luggage. Came back from Germany and HK recently but no scanning was done.
