Change from LPR to PR?

I have a question for changing from LPR to PR:

If I rent a room and submit the application to change from LPR to PR, I heard that it requires 8 weeks after I submitted the application, whether I cannot leave Singapore during this period? (I am Canadian)

If I sign a lease for room renting, how many months bill statement ICA will require to change my status from LPR to PR?

You only need the rental contract for that particular proof. You will, ofcourse, need other documents depending on whether you are relocating with family or getting employment in SG.

this problem is that I cannot stay in Singapore too long, that is why I care about hong long it will takes for me to finish the procudure to change from LPR to PR. Who has the experience?

I want to change to PR from LPR by renting, if I rent a place right after I arraive Singapore, how long it will take for me to change from LPR to PR? Whether I can leave Singapore during this period? Thanks

When you turn in all the required documents for changing from LPR to PR, the official time they quote is 8 weeks. In reality, it could be faster: In my case, I applied for the conversion on Dec 15, 2005 or so and got the official notice on Jan 8 2006. That's about 3 weeks.

There are 2 ways by which you can convert from LPR to PR. One is via employment and the other, via relocation. Within in relocation, there are sub-categories.

The letter you got from ICA should have the list of requirements. Pick the category that applies to you and exactly follow the requirements.

Rental contract is not required in some categories, but in others where it is required, it is not the only one that is required.

In the same I relocate by renting a place in Singapore, and then after 1 month I leave Singapore and I quit the renting contract(Maybe I need to pay one more month rent?), that means, although the contract is 1 year but I fly away right after I got the PR, is that legal?

Do you think I need also to get at least one month tel bill etc.?

correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm not sure you can get your lpr converted just by coming by yourself. if i understood it correctly it's only possible when you get employment or relocate with your whole family.

i travelled in and out of singapore during the time my lpr was being converted so that wasn't a problem. you do need to tell the immigration officers about your situation because during that time i just got a embarkation card stub to replace my social visit pass.

if you get your lpr converted anyway, you can go after 1 month if you wish. but are you planning to return to singapore? if not, you will lose your pr if you haven't lived and worked in singapore a certain amount of years..

Is the procedure like tis: ICA sent a notice letter to your permanent address within 3 weeks (official time 8 weeks). Then u brought the letter to ICA again. and then u got ur re-entry permit and blue IC right away???
