very good point about the family/friend-centric culture here. i go to local watering holes by myself, which isn't so unusual. but when i take weekend trips to thailand or elsewhere alone, people think i am a crazy loner. it's been hard to organize trips, and i'm quite okay doing stuff like this alone (but it does get lonely at times). anyways...
