Vegetarian Cuisine

Hello!

My wife and I recently moved to Singapore and we've been finding a real hard time finding vegetarian food here except for the several Indian restaurants and a few Thai places that we've visited.

What are some good vegetarian options in and around the city besides Indian restaurants? Would love to find out different types of cuisine including Chinese, Italian etc. that offer vegetarian food. We live near Bedok and work near the Suntec City.

Also been to several food courts but they do not seem to have ANY vegetarian choice at all.

being a vegetarian in singapore is slightly hard. u gotta really LOOK for stuff!

-if u r working near suntec thrs a chutney cafe in the food court near the fountain ,
-and thrs a nice indian food stall in the food court of the same building as jade cinema [shaw towers i think]
-the area arnd the fountain has a south indian restaurant cant rem name but very obvious u wont miss it! think u wudve already bn thr.
-then of course if u go to city hall thrs komalas in peninsula plaza.
-quite a few indian places in clark quay n boat quay u can try all of those.
-mirchi in esplanade mall
-u hv chutney mary near ECP[sorry cant point out location someone help here pls] that serves chat n stuff like tht too. its quite nice.
-if i eat pasta, its mostly frm pasta mania, they have 3-4 types of vegetarian ones
-for pizza u can order frm sarpino's coz they have a few vegetarian varieties unlike most of the other pizza places whr u hv only one.
-otherwise frm foodcourts, u either eat carrot cake, roti prata [from a muslim stall] or place a special order with "no meat no seafood" for mee goreng, fried rice or something similar. if u r lucky they have a vegetarian stall but u need to change ur taste buds a bit, dont know how much u'll like chinese vegetarian food.

phew.. tts all i can rem in the area u've mentioned. i dun work near suntec so my knowledge is pretty limited abt tht area. thrs definitely more. ppl add on to the list pls. i'm sure thrs a few i need to discover too!

oh and one more, if u're goin to holland village sometime, try Original Sin, its vegan food. I think from some european country cant rem which one! but its a very nice n exotic place.

There's bombay cafe- which is veg on Tanjong Katong Road.
Chutney mary is on upper east coast road.....
Then there is Ganesh Vilas on upper east coast road (opp the ganesha temple).

I did find a bunch of Indian restaurants here but looking for some variety in terms of more localized food, Chinese, Italian etc.

I did check out Pasta Mania - not too bad, but more of a fast food place. It seemed that the USA was more veg friendly than here!

I found a couple of good veg options in Raffles City (non Indian) and some in Suntec... not much in Parway Parade (East Coast) except for a Thai place which had a few veg dishes.

Do you eat fish/seafood? I'm not vegetarian but don't eat much meat, and I manage very well.

hey hey, if u are still looking for more veg choices, this new cafe will be serving organic veg soup, vegetarian salad and sandwiches, etc too..

anyway, i chanced upon a nice looking cafe(not open for biz til 1st Oct according to the 2 lady bosses) just yesterday while visiting Sir Stamford Raffles (his statue-the white one) at the back of Asian Civilisation Museum with my Aussie classmate.

they have steps leading up to its entrane and a piano placed near it... it was the piano that lured out the curiosity in me (i am a fanatic of classic music).. and make me wanna check it out..

no regret, the deco was simple and yet exclusive.. from the menu, their pricing is reasonable...

the 2 ladies were very friendly, let me play on the 15yrs old piano and also told me that they will be coffee, tea, smoothies, ice-blended stuff, beer, wines, muffins, soup, salad, sandwiches and cheesecakes in this 1st cafe of theirs.

they invited me to go back on the 1st to try their cheesecakes claiming it to be their signature!! and also that their homemade soup would make anyone's $-worth (they show me a really huge soup bowl!!)

to everyone out there, go check out this new cafe at Asian Civilisation Museum (dun go to their next door neighbour - IndoChines, their coke is real real ex!!)

think the ladies mentioned that the public could book their place for private events, etc.... hmmm...maybe i could celebrate my 21st birthday there...

aiya, i forgot to ask what's the name of the cafe (they didn't/haven't put up their signage)..

i will definitely go back on the 1st of Oct to check it out again and experience the home welcoming kinda service from these 2 ladies again!! hmmm... my classmate even commented that their services and friendliness is ever better than our SIA!!

You could try Original Sin in Holland Village (Jalan Mera Saga) which serves only veg Medittereanean food... quite nice:) can give u a detailed list if you need more:) I'm a vegetarian too!
