My gosh...HKG flights are turnaround flights??!!! Meaning the crews will not get to really see and experience HK?
Oh btw, have u been 300-ER trained?

I really think the 300-ERs are very beautiful aircrafts...crews getting to work onboard are really lucky!

Wat does it take to be trained for business class? Izzit strictly performance based or its standard procedure, i.e. if u are in service for a yr, hence u'll be trained for biz class? Thanks!
erm..hgk are mainly turnards unless u get flights like hkg-san francisco? where ul be able to spend layovers in hongkong =)
ermm..yah...im ER trained.........its beautiful..but not many crews enjoy working in it cos of space constraint....but...i like it arh...cos it feels comfy =)
as for biz class...ul get to train after abt a yr of service....everyone will get to do it..

Hi! Thanks for ur reply!
So for how long u've been flying with SIA?

Yup, it has that comfy look. HEhe. So r all ur crew mates looking forward to be A380-trained?
Once u're trained for biz class, does that mean u'll be serving biz class from thereon? Or it still depends on allocation?

i don't know how the system works..like is there a time where the whole flight is filled with stewardess or there's an allocation of how many max stewards on it? and do you mind letting me know if there are many stewards currently being employed by SIA? sorry if this question sounds ridiculous, this like this have never been discussed before over here

no of course there'll never be a flight with just stewardesses.
the IFS is usually male, because there are more male IFS than females. for CS, it really depends. usually there is a mix of LS and LSS. but there are usually more FSS than FS.
i don't think anyone would actually know the exact number of males employed by SIA now unless they're working in HR.

ive ever got a flight where the non ranking crew are all FSS!!!
but usually there will be 1 or 2 FS ...
erm..12345...im flying already but still junior arh..
and u must have knowledge bt ur company!! if not how to survive...i still got so muchh to learn..
SNYs get to do 4 flights in total, 2 of each 744 and 777 flights.....mainly hongkong, sydney, narita, delhi, adelaide, seoul, auckland,bangkok-osaka...i forget wad else le.. =p
anyway i thought the training period is realy short...i remember i graduated in 3mths and 1 week time. =)
so for those who think they are underpaid....don be! cos by the 3rd mth of training..ul be doing training flights already..which means got income as well. :p

thanks ntyj, that seriously explains so many other unanswered stuff.
since this part is getting a little more exciting, i have a few other questions for you if you don't mind?
i assume that the FS & FSS are promoted to higher positions based on seniority? just a little curious, how senior do they expect one to be before they even consider them to get promoted or promotion has nothing to do with seniority? experience? performance?
sorry to keep ya'll bugging, but this is the best place to actually get straight forward answers. thanks again

now promotion is no longer based on seniority, u never know 1 day yr junior might even promote faster than you.
I think now not comparing airline but even outside, it all boils down to work performances & luck also how u know how to 'wayang' and PR and 'zhuo ren'. Its a lot of factors and not only based on seniority.
some pple juz do not have the luck to be promoted... so quite sad la.. those who are good leaders and good workers, produce wonderful results and always complimented by pax sometime becos they 'choke' during the interview hence lose a promotion chance.
