Long term visa for unmarried partner

hi there

i will be relocating to sg for work for a year or longer (all arranged by my employer). what kind of visa can my girlfriend/unmarried partner - a swiss national - apply for to be able to stay with me (with no intention to work in sg - at least for the moment)? what processing times would we need to consider? and what if i/we will be leaving for sg sooner than that (could be as little as 4 weeks from now)?

Unless you have been in a de facto common law marriage that can be documented in your home country you are out of luck. She will be able to get a tourist visa and maybe one extension before it starts getting sticky trying to cross the borders for an additional 2 weeks, or having to fly to thailand or somewhere for a long weekend once or twice a month to get an additional 2 or 4 weeks.

There is not an easy way unless you make the cohabitation legal.

I'm going thru the same thing now. It's a bit of a hastle but probably not impossible. The "common-law" part of the LTSV is I think designed for this.

Call your embassy and enquire from them. U.S. embassy needed me to sign an affadavit, and they added U.S. seal. Additionally somebody has to sponsor her- probably the same people that are sponsoring you. If you are being sponsored by your company in your home country for your EP then they should help, otherwise if you're being sponsored by a Singapore company then enquire from them.

-You need to get your EP

-Then go to your embassy here in Sing, and ask them what they can do. I'd call them first

-Then have someone apply for your g/f's LTSV

-Then get her over on a tourist visa

-Then have her stick around the MOM's queue for a while and wait.

There are immigration attorneys here as well; pm me for who we've been using. I'm not thrilled with them quite yet but at least they're providing some guidance.

When you talk of your g/f I recommend saying "souse" or "significant other" or "common-law" or something other than g/f.

not sure where you're from, but having just gone through the same situation, here's what i learned.

the immigration authority (IAS) AS WELL AS ministry of manpower (MOM) issue the same types of visas. the difference is that application through IAS is based on your g/f's own merit, whereas application through MOM is attached to your EP.

your g/f will need to apply for a 'long-term social visit pass' (LTSV) through MOM. the LTSV is catered for common law spouses. in order to apply for the LTSV, you need:
1) a local sponsor that can be a company (yours preferably) or an individual (has to be PR or citizen)
2) a letter from your embassy/high commission to recognise your relationship as a legal one (i'm told that the british high comm no longer issue the 'spouse letter' as they have an arrangement with MOM, but someone forgot to tell MOM about this! so alternative is to get your company to issue this letter)
3) a statutory declaration from you to acknowledge your relationship with your g/f, preferably stating length of relationship and living together

it would be faster for your company to submit the application online, as there is some 'online e-govt thing' for registered companies. they say that online application takes about 2 to 3 weeks, whereas counter application takes 3 to 4 weeks.

You need a letter from your Embassy here in Singapore stating that you are in a de facto relationship and the MOM will issue you and Long Term Social Visit Pass (LTSVP).

I am in this situation too, the Australian high commission doesn't issue these letters any more and I don't know what we need to get instead of this. Can any one let me know what we need to provide?

Hi guys, i am relieved to find out that many people are in same situation as we are!
My boyfriend's EPEC has just got rejected today, and we are both very sad about the situation and therefore looking out for more information out there.
We are both working and living in Germany, he is a French national. I have my PR status in Singapore and will hopefully get a job in Singapore in November. We both are looking forward to relocate to Singapore.
I am interested to know more information on this de facto relationship, because we have been living together for more than a year now in Germany.

Should we get a letter from the admin office here in Germany stating we are living together, or should he go to french embassy in Singapore and let them issue this letter for us?

haha do you speak german? i would need to find out where i should go to ask for this kind of letter. i am indonesian national, and my boyfriend is french, and we live in germany =D ill try ask the townhall tomorrow morning. anyone knows what kind of information needs to be in the letter specifically? (our names, how long we have lived together, our address - thats all?)

I think i'm also in a similar situation. I'm a Dutch citizen working in Singapore, holding a P1 pass at the moment. I met a lady in China during one of my business trips. We know each other for almost 2 year now. I'm constantly travelling to China to see her. I would like to bring her to Singapore so that we can stay together. We are not married but we have plans in the future. I read all the treads and visited the MoM website. i still don't know how to continue.
1 - Which documents do i need?
2 - A PR is need for a Long term visitors pass application, how should i proceed if i want to apply for this pass?
3 - Fi she comes to Singapore and we get married, does this speed up the visa process ?

I hope you guys can help me to answer some of my questions.
