Hi! New here in Singapore. Been here for only a couple of months. My first time to spend the holidays outside my own country. Anybody have any plans for new year's eve?

Think some of the threads are talking about NYE plans so you might wanna check those. It's sure to be different celebrating New Years here in Singapore. Where is your own country where you usually spend the holidays?

i'm from the philippines. female, single, 30 years old. just looking for friends to hang out with, basically. i usually spend the holidays with family and friends much like everyone else. might decide to join the sentosa party which you sent on private message.

it was my first time to celebrate christmas outside my own country. and i'm used to seeing lots of fireworks on new year's eve. and christmas is such a big thing back in the philippines unlike here. but it was okay.

hi! i'm sorry, i must've missed this post. i just went to the vivo city concert with sone friends on new year's eve. it was sooo boring.

we should try to get together some time. i would like to try bicycling in pulau ubin. i've been there a couple of times. did some volunteer work with the green volunteers network. or you could suggest other activities. you could pm me your email or phone number, if you like. =)

I am new to this forum, browsing around and realise this 30's club is quite 'dead'. Why is that so? I don't believe the zest of 30-something can be that bad right?

I'm a local, so can I join in this subforum too? I'm full of energy and funny thing is many pple 30s and above are so damn busy.

We are around but with christmas just happened, Chinese New year nearly upon us we've all been a bit busy.

Not doubt it'll kick off again in a few weeks.

A few of us go for drinks on a friday so if you're interested let us know, or should I say, let me know as I tend to now organise it.

Hi ya. I'm interested in a get-together this weekend. I was thinking that maybe Friday night's aren't the best as we clash with the FNDC and may lose some people to that. Perhaps Saturday or Sunday afternoon or evenings would be better.

Anyway, my suggestion is for Scruffy Murphy's at ECP. I haven't been there but I've been to their sister pubs (owned/operated by the same company) Muddy Murphy's and Durty Nelly's and they're both good.

I believe Scruffy Murphy's has a beer garden so perhaps Saturday or Sunday afternoon would be good. Looking at their website they're located between McD's and the water in the ECP.

too far for me i'm afraid.

Saturday nights are my chill out night. A few drinks, watch the footie, and at normally a relatively central places.

I know there's a clash with FNDC, that's where I met everyone from. I don't go there anymore (well I did go last friday just to see what was happening) but not my thing anymore.

The 30s club isn't actually dead, I think it has just run out of steam on the forum. It started out back in March 07 after a number of us commented on a sudden influx of young 20 somethings to the forum. The idea was that being 30+ doesn't make you over the hill just not so interested in clubbing through the night. It was very active for many months (all lost when the thread mysteriously got deleted one day) and many of us becamse good friends this way. But the thing is we all now know each other, have exchanged email addresses and mobile numbers and so tend to organise things off forum. We also tend to use the FNDC to meet, or do our own version, and many of us are hardcore volleyball players / chillers (see thread in main events & gatherings board). Speaking as somebody who organised quite a few dinners and movie outings I have to say that organising a large number of people, many of whom you haven't met yet, is quite hard work. I, and a number of others, put the effort in because we were new to Singapore and wanted to get out and about and make new friends. Having now made a number of good friends there isn't the same incentive. In fact a number of people have remarked to me, and I feel the same, that after a certain point it actually becomes difficult to continually meet new people and have the same starter conversation about where you are from, how long you have been in Singapore, why you are here etc etc... But this doesn't mean that the 30s club subforum is dead and defunct -I think it just needs revitilising with new blood. Clearly there are new people coming in to Singapore all the time, many of whom like the idea of the 30s club. So feel free to go ahead and organise your own things using the 30s sub forum, don't wait for us to get round to it! This is after all, effectively how the FNDC is kept going. And who knows, one of the regulars may get round to organising something sooner or later as well.

By the way, Jaw -being local is no problem, and we've never exactly insisted that people actually be 30 something, -you just need a 30 something international mindset probably.
