Cinder - we're stuck here too, didn't make travel plans early enough!
The museums are open and are free to the public on holidays... so that might be a fun thing to do if you haven't been to the National Museum or ACM recently.

for those that were too late to book a flight, you can always consider just going to malaysia, one of the island for couple of days.
can easily get there by bus/boat or even rent a car.
I belong to the happy few apparently that did manage to still book a flight.
going to kota kinabalu in malaysia for 4 days.
totally overpaid and have to make detour via kuala lumpur to get there, but well, don't have that many holidays, so got to use occasions like this.
cheers,
koen

** sammymck: the cinemas are all open. You can just go online to book your tickets...and it's highly advisible that you do so as many people would have the same idea as you. Cinemas are often very crowded during this time.

** TAJ: the seats for the Chingay parade will give you a better view. And as you mentioned you have 2 children, so it's highly recommended that you buy the tickets. The whole procession is rather long, and it gets very very crowded along the roads during that time. You wouldn't wanna squeeze in a little corner cranning your neck to try and see what's going on.
Those looking for travel options, you guys can check out Bintan as well, a nice island with loads of resorts. It's just a 1hr ferry ride away from Tanah Merah ferry terminal. I think the ferry prices remained the same as usual...about 110SGD for a return ticket.

We ended up walking the paths of MacRitchie Reservoir and Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, apart from meeting up with couples friends and just chill out.
Movies are not recommended - everywhere are too crowded.
