Hi Evelyn
I worked in Southern Africa for two and a half years - Botswana to be exact and some friends have visited me whilst I have been here so I have a fair idea.
Singaporeans are pretty OK with black people and you won't find that much racism here. In fact I could safely say you will be warmly welcomed and have no want for friends
There is also a very tight Black community from Africa here and so most things you need can be got - I even have a few numbers for a lady who can braid your hair...
Tip:Bring some Dark and Lovely when you come as it is hard to get here
(No, I am not a girl and I am not gay - I just have a black friend whose with does braiding on the side)
Unfortunately the Nigerian factor in terms of drug trafficking and the likes has tainted Africans in the region so it is hard to get visa's in some countres like Indonesia - But in Singapore should be OK if you follow all the rules with regards to Visa applications.
What sort of work are you interested in.
BTW don't be scared as you have a friend already.
