Friends: I'll be traveling for a look & see in a week to be stationed in Singapore for at least several years... the Office location is at Block 42 Benoi Road x st Gul Ave.
I'm looking for a nice bachelor
condo, something for a single 47 yo American Exec expat, perhaps around S$8-10K... any advice here on a place nearby... where to go and where NOT to go?
Thanks!

with a budget of S$8k to S$10k, you will be spoil for choice. have a look at
www.singaporeexpats.com for some rough guide and engage an estate agent. you really need to view the
property yourself as one man's mansion is another man's mud hut.

Your office will be in Jurong Industrial Park, it is in the West part of the country. I’ve been to that area for interview before, it is not very convenient indeed. The nearest MRT station is Jurong East, but then you still need to take a bus ride to that area. So I suggest you to go for
condos in the West, otherwise you need to spend too much time on transportation everyday. If you have extra budget for transportation, get a car may be a good idea for you.

Hmmm Office in Benoi, then the only
condo accessible will be Floravale. The rent there is about $ 3500..(highest) ...however, if you are not driving .then you still have to take the shuttle bus out to Boon Lay interchange....there are some feeder bus 257...
In fact I think that Jurong West condo's are a little inconvenient. Even if you stay at those Condo's located near Chinese Garden MRTT, you still have to take buses twice.

Always have a smile on that face!

If you have a bugdet of $8-10K you can easily get a really nice penthouse at Floravale (2800 sqft) and a decent european car to commute from home to work.

Friends: timing is still unknown... I've been working the lead where I discovered the job prospect for over 3 months now... almost took me to Dubai to work with the Shieks but I like the idea of S-pore better...
I'm actually on the tele tonight (tomorrow to you) to speak with the P of the entire AP Region and under the assumption that I impress him and then he's supposed to invite me over from the say-so of the International P who wants me looking for and fixing trouble at the the new Sands Casino money-making machine... a job that big and there's bound to be lots of trouble-makers running around creating mischief... and alot of those are other boss's...
The look & see will hopefully be next week and the move over to stay by the middle of June... my bags are packed and belongings boxed and I am ready to get the heck outta beach-hippy San Diego and get back to work.
I've been 2 months now non-stop researching the company and the customers and the politics and the region - customs - protocol - etiquette -business practices - local scenes - expat package - bikies (the snarly ones with vests on 2 wheels!) - you name it and I've researched it...
And I'm leaving my guns/knives/chewing gum here in the states...
TT!
