The job market for chemists here is dreadful so I think of trying my luck in Singapore: stay there for 2-3 months seeking a suitable job.

It is better to line up a few interviews before you come over. You can apply to the companies you are interested in via e-mail. Even if they have not advertised, you could mail your CV to their HR Department and go on from there. It is also quite common to hold interviews over the telephone.
