Is it illegal to ship chewing gum into Singapore?

I had a stuffed up ear so I bought some for flying. You cant buy bubble gum, but any chewing gum that has "healthy" properties, Like teeth whitening (wrigleys) breath fresher etc can be bought in Singapore at the pharmacy.

I brought a lot from my home country too.
About 60 packets. No problem so far.

bought a desk box of gum in Bintan, but didn'tdare to bring it at the office...
Anyway custom didn't ask me any question, so i didn't say anything about it.

But i guess no been caught with gum doesn't mean it's ok to bring some in the country. I'm more curious of the feedback of people caught with gum at the airport rather than the lucky few.

Summary: In legal theory, it's illegal to import or possess any quantity of chewing gum in Singapore. Period. In practice, of course, nobody really cares, unless you start approaching retail quantities.
