Not sure to be elligible to PEP, need help :-)

Dear all,

I read that the PEP can be granted to people earning abroad more than 7000SGD.
I actually earn that amount ... sometimes (when not, we are speaking of 50 € less than the limit).
I can provide 3 salary slips (less than 6 months old, 3 months in a row). Will it be enough or will the MOM check in details how much is my fixed salary ?

second point, I do have a contact in Singapore, but he just has an EP. How to fix that ? agencies ?

Knowing MOM, if they say 7K, then that's the bottom line cutoff. if you earn $1795/mo you cannot get an S pass as it's not "At Least" $1800/mo. If you will notice, the requirements for PEP are also "At Least" and while it's a hypothetical number, it's got to be fixed somewhere or else every Tom, Dick & Harry will say well, it only a little bit less! That crap would never stop. This way, they can be their Civil Servant selves and have guidelines that they an follow as they are not allow to think outside of the box. (Whatever that is!)

I dare to try it anyway because I am damn sure I read something like "If applicants dont reach all mandatories, MOM will study the case , etc ..."

Context. You must read in context.

4. The following groups of EP holders will be eligible for a PEP, if they had earned a basic salary of at least S$30,000 in the preceding year:

P1 and P2 pass holders

* P Pass holders that have at least two years' working experience on a P Pass.

Q1 pass holders

* Q1 pass holders with at least five years' working experience on a Q1 pass; and

Foreign students from institutions of higher learning in Singapore

* Foreign graduates from institutions of higher learning in Singapore with at least two years' working experience on a P or Q1 Pass.

You will note that the statement that you quoted was found within No. 4., Not #3. or #5. You will also note that you are quoting from a press release dated 24 August 2006, some 4+ months before the PEP was rolled out on 1 Jan 2007.

You don't have to worry about that as they will take a look at your "basic fixed salary" and apply their own rates to see if it meets the qualifications for the pass.

Better than a pint of beer? Nah! Actually, it's a damned good way to look at it and who knows? You just might get lucky!
