where to buy art paintings for new home?

afternoon guys!

just wondering usually where you guys buy art paintings to decorate your living and bed rooms. my friend just moved to Singapore and would love to fill his walls with art paintings, either abstract or still life paintings.

any thoughts? love to hear from you. thanks!

There is a nice shop on the 2nd floor (at the very back) of Holland Village SC. Pretty pricey though. Some others are also on the same floor.

Combine it with a vacation, go to Vietnam, you will not believe the quality and the choice, although friends now tell me Cambodia is better, but you are now living in a region rich in artistic talent. Singapore art dealers do this and then charge a significant premium and you do not have as wide a choice. Ode to Art is worth watching as they get some interesting art exhibitions and I do like some of their displays, but man - The price !!

True. You can even get things like this much closer to Singapore - Melaka. If you are into modern Chinese oil/acryl paintings there is one guy Titi Kwok who sells his staff in SG. In Melaka it is 1/4th of the SG price and he can paint for you if requested to be ready next day.

I second sillingw, and recommend a weekend trip to Hanoi or other option is Bali. Depending what you like. I bought paintings in both and prices are pretty reasonable, actually the framing in Singapore about doubles the investement value:)

agree with previous views.
Take a short holiday to Bali or Vietnam. It's at least half the prices you see in Singapore

was thinking of the exact same thing. they are cheap but they compromise on quality. can try Molecule for some great pieces too

If you are flying in australia, there are a few there that are quite cheap there too, in Brisbane

There r quite a few galleries in Singapore that are independent and not explicitly expensive...

I chanced upon one located at raffles place, Market street to be exact but forgotten the name.

Another small n humble sized one at china square.

My dad paints full time for his retirement, mostly abstract n sceneries.

I saw this shop selling music CDs and paintings at quite a discounted price in Keypoint mall. This mall is on beach road opposite The Concourse building.. the shop is on the ground floor...

What is ur budget like ? Most of the paintings were in the range of 250-400 dollars... You can give it a try....
