Over 35 football?

Post by snaw » Thu, 15 Oct 2009 6:01 am

Guys,

Moving out to Singapore in Dec, and starting to look into playing football. Wondering if there's much in the way of over 35's football?

I'm 38, played my whole life, and still playing normal Sunday league in the UK (And run a 5 a side team), but definitely feel like my 11 a side days are numbered in all age teams (Getting old a slow, and recovery is taking longer), but still would like to play 11's.

Reckon I'm still fine for 5's - I guess the futsal leagues are 5 a side essentially? Any suggestions on best place to find a team?

Cheers,

John

I hope you guys have had some luck in finding a team since you arrived. I don't think age makes as big a difference out here as it does in other parts of the world - the heat and humidity slow the game down to a point where there a lot of teams (esp ex-pat) who have players who are in their late 40's or above and are quite comfortable with it, even playing against some younger lads.

If you're still looking for teams then there are a number of leagues you can look at (EFL, ESPZEN, D2D, Cosmo, etc...) and most teams are quite happy to take on another one or two players at any time of the year!

Start a team?

John and rw81, would you be interested in joining forces?

Me & another expat are looking for players to start regular friendly games.

This is purely for fun and to burn off the chicken rice.

Not sure how often I could play as work and other things keep me quite busy, but I could probably manage a few calorie busting friendlies now and again.

I'm absolutely rubbish at football. I'll be in Singapore from the start of March and might well be interested though - I take it you don't play outdoors at midday?
