Accenture Consulting Singapore

Hi all,

Time for a friend to negotiate a package with Accenture Consulting in Singapore.

What could he expect to get paid for 2 years of high end IT consulting exposure in Singapore?

I am presuming my expenses to be,

Rent - 2500 (including utilities for HDB)
Travel - 500 (him + wife)
Mobile - 200 (him + wife)
Food - 1000 (him + wife)

Is there anything he has grossly left out that could be expected to dish out for?

What about benefits? Does anyone have experience with negotiating for these for a firm of similar nature or accenture itself?[/list]

Are you new or coming on as an experienced consultant? I get that you are new... or you wouldn't be asking this question. I have to laugh... Accenture would be quite happy to put you to work on a major Asian corporate compensation program even though you don't even know what to ask for yourself.

They will tell you what you will get because they have already figured out what your bill rate will be, and what margin they expect to obtain from you. As a greenhorn, Accenture is somewhat limited in the day rate they can bill to the client... still exorbitant... but not like the seniors.

PS: What's "high end"? No doubt, Accenture makes the best PowerPoint decks of all companies I have encountered (indeed, I think it is part of corporate training) but actually producing something?

High end is my Accenture friend with 15 years worth of experience, a keen mind, a ton of Asia experience, and a code of ethics that transcends the money grubbing experience that is Accenture (and all other consulting firms). Is this you? If not, you're not 'high end', no matter what the recruiters told you. You're a well paid grunt.

You... new... write processes, do slide decks, and pretend to be the expert, while all the time hoping that you have a mentor like my friend.

Seriously, though... best of luck... a stint at a consulting company is great resume fodder.

That sounds good. Would you be able to help quantify such a package.
I could really use some exposure on that front.

The thing is this is my first organization transition since my career started and since I am not too used to being in Singapore as someone running his daily life thought I could use some advice.

Have been in singapore before to do my MBA though and I have loved the place

I have never been to Singapore though unlike yourself and dont know what to expect for living expenses for myself & family (spouse and 2 kids). I also applied to ACN in my job search and my skills almost exactly matched the job descrip that they put out. I was rejected. I would do a bunch of research on them as a company before jumping in. There is a website about how bad accenture is, of course there is a lack of positive feedback. I recommend a read just to get an idea. Sorry can't find the URL.

There is always a certain amount of bad mouthing that is done about every organization in the world and Accenture has no shortage of those either.

Definitely it did not become one of the most successful and best technology consulting in the firm by being a bad firm. Being a consultant comes with its own downsides and that has nothing to do with anything organization specific.

Ideal negative perks that make people whine and cry are,
- Un balanced work personal life
- Extensive travel
- Odd hours

These could be compounded by a complicated personal relationship, family dependencies etc. If these are not for you then you just cannot blame the firm, change your line for a drop in pay or explore entrepreneurship.


As for your case I can understand the fury of not getting shortlisted. Being the great firm that they are these could be primary reasons,
- Someone better or many others applied with better skillsets for the same job
- The Accenture people evaluating your profile did not feel your skills are in line with what they need
