good decent priced hairdresser

hello

does anyone know of a good hair dresser/salon that is able to do good blonde highlights and funky cuts on european hair (my hair is fine and its always difficult to get someone who knows what to do with it!) for a reasonable price?

I hunted and hunted various forums for a hairdresser that does good blonde highlights. I had heard many horror stories. About 2 months back I went to Le Papillon and if was fabulous.

I can’t remember the guys name but I think he is the owner and only one working there at the mi. He was from Hong Kong and did a great job. I have really long hair and for half head of highlights and cut and blow dry it was close to $300. Not sure maybe thats too pricey for you but it’s the best hair cut I’ve had here and he was super nice.

The salon is just under that big gothic style building near Bugis.

Cheya at Toni & Guy Hereen did my hi-lights and they are just as good as my old hairdresser in London who had been doing them for 7 years.

Forget trying to get a cheap hairdresser - you really do get what you pay for.... I have had hi-lights done by a local hairdresser who said she was trained in London and I left with reddish and very brassy hair. Her suggestion when I said I wasn't happy as I expected to be the same blond I was when I arrived - with my roots done, was not to stand in any bright lights....

It cost me a fortune to get it repaired and I had really dry hair for ages after as my hair is naturally curly and dry to start with. Now I just pay and so far at T&G have not been disappointed.....

I confirm that Cedric, director of "Le Papillon" is a very talented colorist and hairdresser. I had ugly highlights form previous hairdresser in Singapore and he manage to correct it and to get back to what highlights should be : highlighting natural color of hair!
On top of that, he was extremely fast (1hour 15 min for highlights on long hair + glazze + wash + blow dry), starting at 8h45, I was done by 10!
And the salon is cosy with windows with natural light: you can see outside! You are not locked in aircon and aseptized mall shop!
Price: 270 SGD, almost the same as in Europe.
And the tea is excellent!
I"ll certainly go there again.

Wow, red flaky skin is a sign that a) colour was left for too long or b) the chemicals are too strong for you, and poor customer service is definitely NOT acceptable. thanks for the heads up.

I would like to add my voice to the many other who support Le Papillon on this issue. Me and my friend have done the same treatment many time and is perfectly ok for us. We are very sorry to learn that Caro2211 sensitive scalp problem and we think it is very common for her to feel angry.

Anybody want to bet that DINA ORAZOVAZZ and Poala G are connected with Le Papillon? Both Joined today and both only have the one post.

So I would venture to say that anybody reading their posts, please take them with a grain of salt as they are obviously posting on the hairdressers' (or not) behalf.

To caro2211.

first of all...they not suppouse to use the brazilian blowdry products and any chemical treatment on the same day. second: the brazilian blowdry has to be done first as it can change the colour even tho it doesn't contains chemicals....erm at least not suppouse to but i've done a small research here,and the one we used in london that is approved by the Brazilian Ministry of Health is not being used here. most of the products that is here are containing formaldehyde. that can be the reason of the burning feeling and the other reason is that both treatments were done the same day. sorry about the bad experiance.
ah and another thing....we never had a client who got any problems with flaky scalp after the brazilian blowdry

I have to say I'm in agreement with the poor victim here.... they should have done a skin test first, so the blame lies with them.

Also that shocking level of customer service is inexcusable in the beauty industry but unfortunately it is not uncommon here in Singapore. There is not the same level of western standard for service, too much of a short term attitude, forgetting about future custom & word of mouth. They ought to rectify the situation very quickly before too many people hear about their actions, or lack of.

Also given that the salon claims to provide a Western standard of hairdressing the same should also apply to it's customer care. Clearly this is not the case.

I was considering going here, but given that attitude I doubt I will.

Also It couldn't be more obvious those posts in defense were from staff! Haha, nice try

I was interested in getting the Brazilian blowout treatment here and was looking around online to see if there have been any reviews or recommendations of where to get it done in SG. I'm glad I read the reviews here before venturing to the salon.

Le Papillon did look promising but as UKGal mentioned, the appalling customer service (or lack thereof) has completely turned me off. It's a shame as well because some professionalism, accountability and aftercare service would have helped to rectify the situation.

I do not see i got any problem so far been doing the treatment. I dont understand why you people keep stressing on this issue which is not true. Have you watched the movie " DOUBT" I saw something that is happening in the movie happening here and cARO2211 will be sorry for her action
