Looking for a place 4 a break before starting my new job?

I move to Singapore in August to start a new job and I am looking for a good place in Malaysia or Indonesia, not too far from there, to have rest and to stay cool during 4/5 days.
I would like to surf but it seems that this is not the good season for that?
