Birth control prescription - GP/family doc or OBGYN?

Hi Everyone - just moved here a week ago. Looking to get a doctor, primarily for female needs like regular physical and birth control. Do you know if I do this with a family doctor or do I need to get an OBGYN? In Canada this is done through a familiy doctor/GP so this is why I ask.

If you have any recommendations and insight into how the process works, how much it costs, etc that'd be great.

A GP will suffice. If you are living in/near the city, it will cost you quite a bit. If you are in the heartland, it will cost lesser depending on the type of checks.
Any lady GP will be OK no need for OBGYN

A Paracetamol or an Aspirin will work just fine. Just take the little pill and hold it between your knees firmly and don't let it fall. Guaranteed you won't end up preggers.

That's much better than my original suggestion of asking the girl to hold an un-lit cigerette between the legs, and making sure it stays there, while doing 'it'
