Applied for LPR want to know status

I Applied for Singapore LPR on 28th August, 2010. There is no update on the same.
I applied through consultancy AND even they dont have any update ON this.
Please let me know if any body who applied IN june OR july 2010 got approval.


Also Can somebody please tell me how much TIME will it take TO get Approval once we get the interim letter.

My agent told me that it takes maximum of 6 months (though I believe ICA knows it better) after receiving interim letter. but what I wanted to know is... how much chances are there once we got that letter from ICA about matter being receiving attention?

Any one has any idea??

Your agent I believe is SMC which is the appointed agent for ICA. They can only give estimate . It is up to ICA. It may takes longer then you expect. Currently everything is on hold or "go slow" till election.
You just have to sit tight and hope for the best

Thanks MadScientist. That I know from various posts here in this forum that election time makes this process really slow and after july 2009 only handful people have got thier LPR approved fast.. Lucky they!!

I just wanted to know this letter stating "your matter is receiving attention" is just immediate step of processing or does it really a feel good factor that chances are good enough for approval.. I could not find much about this letter in this forum. I hope you have answer to my query

The letter is not indicative of anything other than an attempt to let you know that your application wasn't not lost in the bowels of bureaucracy. It is not an indication of either favourable or disfavourable leanings. You are just going to have to wait.

Thanks. in between, my agent is not SMC... .

So its all about waiting till the elections are over.

Be willing to bet it is. You are being hustled by another third party who is still submitting it through smc. In fact, on the ICA website, it flat out tells you that ICA's ONLY agent is SMC. Therefore, you are being ripped off by another company who has marked up the price and suckered you into paying it. They are in turn submitting it to SMC and paying SMC the actualy cost. The only one who loses is you. \

Thanks for your concern sundaystaplesmorning. I know ICA's only agent or outsourced party is smc but I went to smc thru another agent of mine who has lot of experience in filing visa and pr applications in various countries. I hired that agent to be on the safer side so that I dont miss out anything while applying

Yeah , you are going in circle and paying alot more thru your agent rather than directly to SMC. Your agent will have to apply it thru SMC too. SMC has a team that will guide you how to fill up those forms.For that reason SMC charge a certain fee. Now you are paying on top of that to get someone fill up for you whereby this can be easily guided by SMC.
Anyway it is your choice and money. Good luck

India has several agents that do student visas and Migration Visas for multiple countries like Canada, UK, Aus etc

Its understandable to go through these for migration to Canada or UK as the process is complicated, but for Singapore going through them is a waste of money.

But you cant blame these people who dream about getting out of country. They see an ad in the newspaper and then call up the agent and then get attracted by their marketing talk. And I doubt whether SMC has an office in every city in the country.
