Mandarin Gardens is nice... windy mostly. I lived there for a year and really enjoyed it.

Just lookout for molds from time to time. Sorry for the black hat, but that's about the only downside.

Have to say that East Coast looks really nice. Like an earlier poster said, the flight path into the airport is intended to be over the sea and then into the airport and this minimises the noise. But if you live near the ECP, I suspect you will pick up the traffic noise if you have a sea-view.

I dont understand the attraction with Holland Village. I was there this afternoon. The houses all look pretty old and tacky if you ask me. The only thing that gives away the area as being more "upper class" are the BMW`s, Mercedes and Audi`s parked on the driveway.

So whats the attraction for expats?

For me a reasonable (as for Singapore) balance between infrastructure (CSs, some dining areas, HV, Dempsey etc.) and lack of it (i.e. the green areas nearby, Botanic Gardens ... ) plus accessibility to the downtown part. It is slightly off the centre yet within few minutes to many places.

I only live here because it's close to work....but having buses to everywhere and proximity of some retail outlets don't hurt...

...hell, I don't even live within 50 meters of Holland Village itself. I'm only an expat because of a technicality.
