Pregnant and can't choose a Dr

Hello,

I'm pregnant, due Nov 11 and am struggling with all my options here in Singapore. If I was in the UK my Dr and hospital would be determined for me but over here i've got to figure it all out myself... can anyone help?

I don't have insurance so don't want to be going to the super expensive places (no Raffles Hospital for me!) but I want a good dr who has lots of experience but will not push natural birth on me if i decide that it's not what i want. After hearing so many horror stories from friends and family I'm completely terrified of the entire experience so need a Dr who an deal with hysterical petrified first time mums...

I live in the West so East coast places are probably out but can anyone recommend a Dr and hospital?

Try Women's CLinic at NUH. PC Wong and his team should be able to take care of you

I haven't heard of anyone who's been disappointed with her experience at NUH. I use Prof Mary Rauff and I was delighted with her, but there are a couple dozen OB/GYNs there if she's not the right fit for you. She is very well known and renowned in the medical and parenting communities, and she's been around a long time. If I had to guess I'd say she's been delivering babies for close to 30 years.

At the Women's Clinic there are at least 6 reputable Gynaes and Obs. PC Wong heads the team and The Obs Department at NUH. If you are not happy with one doctor, just jump ship to another. No worries.
The credential on the walls of the clinic are basically covered on both floors.
I once asked PC and Mary , in between them how many babies have they delivered. Both of them showed me 10 cabinets of photos of babies since their time in Mount E till now at NUH. Literally hundreds , maybe thousands(My guess). Speaks volumes of what they have done and contribute. On top of that they conduct lectures to upcoming doctors at NUS. Very unassuming and very aware of different race, religion and its requirements. I cannot find any fault in their work and professional ethics

I'll be going for my last postnatal check up tomorrow morning, I'll have to add another photo to her collection. I almost (*almost*) want to get pregnant right away so I can deliver with her again before we leave SG.

I'm late in this forum but just to tell u this.
You won't regret if you go to this gynae. Well-experienced, very fatherly, caring, meticulous, detailed to everything that you need to know, and what else I could say? I tried Dr Woodworth but he doesn't talk much. My first and third child was done by Dr Lim Loon Haw. Very very very caring and compassionate to his patients...Thanks Dr Lim near beauty world at. Bt timah.. Thanks for helping me giving birth smoothly and all the encouragements!!

I'd personally recommend Dr Mary Yang, especially if you're uncomfortable with a male gynae.

She is very thorough and will take the time to explain everything. I've recommended her to 2 other friends, both have 3 kids among them delivered by Mary.

I recommend Dr Lai at camden. He works at a place called Company For Women. You pay more at his place but he spends more time than another doctor that people recommended me which is Dr. Paul Tseng at Thompson.

Paul was a nice guy but I felt he was aggressive and just wanted us in and out (5 min)

I rather pay more and have someone whom will give me the time rather than somewhere that is too busy. I heard Thompson does an average of 35 births per day... Highly recommend Mount Alvernia

Anyways the birth process is not a big deal, you dont need a good doctor, what is more important is to take care of yourself and believe in yourself.
Birth is a natural process so going to someone that believes that is very important.

Dr Tan at SGH - particularly if you've given birth in the UK before as he spent a year there a couple of years ago.

While he wasn't able to do everything the way we did in England he did at least know when the Singapore way diverted from the UK way and was able to advise us.
