Where would you go to buy a ceiling fan?

Going shopping this week to buy a ceiling fan. Wanting to know where you'd go to find a good range, good price, help with delivery and installation. Opinions/experiences? We're along the West Coast but I can travel a bit afield if necessary.

You can try Balestier Road.There's a lot of electrical shops there selling lights n Ceiling Fans.

or you could look up this place, for mere mortals like us .. called "IMM"

The last time I was there, I did see a few ceiling fans .. with the installation charges mentioned. .

Being, as I am, a mere mortal, I did look up IMM just now. Seems they have a kid's play area and free stroller hire... hm... Thanks for the Balestier Rd suggestion, too.

Any other suggestions/opinions/experiences still welcome. I'm planning on making the trip tomorrow and I hope to be all done and dusted by tomorrow night. (Probably optimistic, but a gal can dream.)

You mean you looked up on the 'net' ?? Mate, take a hike there .. you are not far away anyway .. IMM is big building and has more than kids pla and free stroller

I'm not going to take a hike that close to dinner/bath/bedtime! Tomorrow, maybe. Wanted to look up address first to plan how to get there, what to take (mrt/bus/taxi/double stroller/single stroller/no stroller/carrier/car seat/taxi vest/snacks/lunch/how many nappies and changes of clothes...?)

Can't just be up and tripping to these places, you know. Why do you think I'm asking here first instead of just hitting the streets and shopping around like I used to be able to do?

Is ok?

Hehehe... you have to know we've had a rough week in our house and we are all severely sleep-deprived, so I only make sense half the time. Or perhaps I only make half sense, I can't remember. Anyway. I think I have my shopping itinerary together now. Pretty sure I can find something in two expeditions, max. Wish me luck.

Why ceiling fan, if I may ask ??

If you are in a rental property, why would you want to redecorate the ceiling - which is part of the major cost for natives ??

Stick to pedestal, and if you have kids, try the bladeless fan - which is not strong, but good enough ..

Or the vornada circulators ..

Frankly, I swear by ceiling fans. Have 'em in every room in the house. Don't use aircon at all and have been that way for 29 years! Only way to go. Even if you have to pop for the cost yourself, you'll save a bunch of money on doctor's bills and utility bills.

Because even the bladeless pedestal fans aren't really childproof - still lots of cords to tangle in and machinery to knock/pull over. And the bladeless ones not that cheap anyway. We've already got pedestal fans in all the rooms I can put them in without causing myself serious maternal anxiety, so yes I'm sticking to them wherever possible for practical reasons.

I have used King of Fans/Elmark in Ubi a number of times. Competent installation, decent after sales service. Probably not the cheapest but in Singapore you get what you pay for.
