I'd second IMM in Jurong. I just got a desk fan at Giant. Best prices in town--I was at least 20 ceiling fans and an equal number of desk/stand fans too.

I just bought a couple of KDK brand ceiling fans from Paris Silk in Hollland Village. $170 for a pair. I've always found Paris Silk prices competitive and they are prepared to match prices even though they are smack in the middle of expat zone.

old thread but I have decided to do my bit for global warming and try a fan.

Best Denki carries a few models imitating the vintage ones but it is rather very poor imitation. Mostly it is about a copper or brass like finish and a kind of conical base.

Strange I remembered this post...

I just saw an almost identical replica of the GE fan in your Etsy link. It's at Kallang Leisure Center. Some shop that sells old/replica furniture. They currently have a display setup in the middle of the first floor. The blades are metal, but seem rather thin. Not sure how good of a copy it is, but I suspect best you'll find in Singapore.

Thanks for that I saw the same one in that Ye olde fake furniture shop in Holland village shopping mall, they are Thailand made copies a bit steep at $600 for fakes? maybe because of all the metal used in them?

S$600? I don't think it was that much... I recall it being more than I'd pay, but not that high. I want to say $200-300? I'll check next time I go.

Back to another fan problem...

I have a open trellis/gazebo and would like a ceiling fan. I can find plenty of "wet' rated (as in it will be soaking wet when it rains) fans in the US but nothing over here or even in 240 volts. Has any anyone tried a US fan using a step down transformer?

How about a punkawallah? Wet rated and with things tightening up here, might even be able to pick up with that can speak quirky English and might very well come with papers......

You might need a step up transformer though as I don't know how high your Gazebo is. Of course a Rube Goldberg contraption could take care of that.

Why don't you call Fanimation in Australia and see if you can sort something out as you wouldn't need a transformer that way....

I got mine at jurong west, the shops that was near to jurong swimming complex and the nearest mrt station might be chinese garden. But I am not sure whether you will like the design, but I saw some shops in Balestier and they have plenty shops selling fans that you might be interested in
