S pass rejected

Helo guys

My background, i am recent graduate who do not have experience. I am educated at Malaysia from Australia University.I graduated with average result not fantastic at all.

On mid May, I got a job and my employer applied ep/sp for me but it was rejected. I forgot to ask the reason for rejection. The company wanted to appeal but i kept waiting for my manager to come back from holiday. it already 2 weeks and decided to give up on that firm.


Recently, on mid july, i got accepted by one firm, they applied ep/sp for me and the result was rejected. The reason state the candidate does not qualify.
I felt very despair for it as it seems the govt didnt welcome me. The company told me that they will appeal for me but they kept delaying. I am afraid even though they will appeal for me but in fact they have not done so because appeal is uncertain, they would rather employ somebody..


Anyone experience similar situation as me or anyone knows somebody experiencing same problem as me and succeeded in the end?Any advice for me.Help!!

If you are holding a distance learning degree, that is probably the reason. S Pass criteria have been tightened up considerably now. In fact, I had to give a release from service letter to one of my S pass holders yesterday. At renewal, he was rejected on criteria. He no longer qualified under the new S pass criteria - this was a renewal. It sucks but, distance degrees are not very useful anymore in Singapore.

I am from Monash Malaysia Sunway campus where it is a campus from Australia unlike Taylor who offer distance learning. Seriously, distance degree no longer useful in SPore for instance, SIM or MDIS?
Do you think MOM sees result and experience for first time applicant? Please keep me updated on your appeal.

We had another on here who also as a degree from Sunway a couple of years ago. Been trying for a couple of years to get a job here to no avail. We were never able to quite figure out why. We though it might have been his home of origin that was the problem (not Malaysia). Now you. Both from Sunway. Not sure, but I do know that MOM doesn't think too much of distance learning degrees from other Asian countries. They used to close one eye, but now are looking with both eyes.

So sad to hear that. I have heard many seniors graduated from my uni and sunway university (distance learning uni) are also able to secure job here. They came on 2009-2010 and most of them are ep holder. Im not from M'sia but from neighbouring countty (I country).

I can't be sure about MOM's stand on this but I have seen few (not many) Sunway accounting degree holders via DTP or 3+0 or 4+0 programmes that got in in 2009 or 2010 and got their EP. They are Malaysians.

Now, MOM has already set the bar higher so I cannot say that such situations still apply for this year.

I am not sure why but I have seen so many Sunway Malaysia graduates coming to Singapore seeking jobs recently. Perhaps, Sunway seems to admit many students from outside Malaysia such as Indonesia, Burma, Phillipines and these students are not able to get a job in Malaysia so they flock to Singapore. It seems MOM has rejected a lot of Sunway job seekers probably either on the ground that they have no work experience or getting a job in a field not in line with their prior education
