Seems pretty tough getting any response for a French/English language-exchange, or is it cos of my age? :(

I suggest you post in Clare's post:

My suggestions:
URL CENSORED DUE TO COPYRIGHT ISSUES

Either go to Serangoon Gardens, Ang Mo Kio Ave 3, Alliance Francaise, or France itself...(joking)

Don't hesitate to speak up. Just add the Excusez, Bonjour Madame/Monsieur, êtes-vous Français? and they will light up, because they love it when a foreign just speaks a word of French.

They're approachable. Even when they try to tell to go away, they'll do it politely, Peut-êtes vous pouvez bien continuer?

There are around 12-15K French people here. Just go into any bistro/restaurant with a french sounding name and request for the owner. Most likely a French (do make sure the restaurant is authentic)... That will make your day. Check out the French teacher's association of Singapore for a list of French eateries here.

A bientot - means hope to see you again. I've learnt my french at Alliance Francaise (Near Newton MRT) for 1.5 years. Check out that place, especially on Tueday nights and Saturday mornings and afternoons.
