Hi to all expats in Singapore.
Like any countries in the world, there are good & bad hairdresser in Singapore. One way to find a good hairdresser is to talk to the hairdresser personally . Ask questions( abt your hair], then listen to his/her replies, does it make sense ,then you decide from there.
Another way is to scan through this forum, but do not take all posting for real, happy posting does not mean this salon /hairdresser suit you. Bad experience posting did not show the full picture either. for example, if the posting said : I/We when to that hairdresser many times , but never one time walk out happy. please , if someone can "went" many time to that particular salon, & still not happy, then in the first place he/she should talk to the hairdresser during the first visit. look guy , HAIRDDRESSER are just like DOCTOR, LAWYER, professional ...Through communication, solve problems, your hair problems......

I get my dye jobs done at a home salon at woodlands. Very reasonable rates and e dye job is fantastic everytime! Costs about $70 for a whole head. Fyi, I have really thick hair so its really cheap! Can contact her at 97383127 - Fanny

Good hairdresser doesn't necessarily need to be expensive. I went to Vybe's Hairdresser at Bedok Central, good haircut but the waiting time can be ridiculously long. Do call before you drop by.

A few months back, I had a disappointing experience with one of the senior stylists at Trimmings who's supposedly good at cutting Caucasian hair . He was distracted as he was juggling several customers at a time and ended up cutting my hair way too short. Unhappy with the service and rather than posting a harsh review online, I contacted the owner of the salon with my feedback and was offered the same services (highlight & cut) as complimentary on my next visit. She understood that I would not be able to take her up on the offer for a few months as my hair grew very slowly. When the time came to make my booking, I confirmed it was 'complimentary cut & colour' over the phone, I was surprised when the salon manager told me on the day, as I was already sitting in the chair ready for the stylist, that I'd have to pay for the cut. No explanations why.
When I contacted the owner about it via email, I had no response. When I called her she said she mistakenly led me to believe the cut and highlights were complimentary. Her mistake.....but I had to pay for it.
That's customer service for you.

I've been going to Joey at Icon Shunji Matsuo (sp?) in 100AM. I've liked her cuts. I get basic trims but my hair is wavy/curly and she actually understands spring factor.
